Mercure Hotels Wine Tasting at Schloss Sihlberg

Mercure Hotels recently organized a wine tasting event “Flavours From The Cellar” in quite a unique location in Zurich – Schloss Sihlberg, a castle just near the Hürlimann brewery.

The very spacious property (1750 square meters) was built in 1898 by the Hürlimann family on the highest point of the Enge area in Zurich. For a long time the Hürlimann beer brewer dynasty was in charge of the Schloss Sihlberg till in 2005 it was sold to a Swiss architect Edgar Schwyn.

Various events are occasionally held in this beautiful venue and I had the pleasure to attend one hosted by Mercure Hotels in Novemer 2016. During the event guests were tasting and rating numerous Swiss wines. After the tasty dinner by Mercure chefs the winners were announced, namely the wines that made it to the 2017 wine list of all Mercure hotels in Switzerland:

Red wine: Elegance assemblage nobles (Wallis), Hallauer Pinot Noir Barrique (Schaffhausen)

Rosé wine: Oeil-de-Perdrix 5/9 (Geneva), Oeil-de-Perdrix (Wallis)

White wine: Reflets (Wallis), Composition Troisblanc (Schaffhausen)

I enjoyed the event, location and wine tasting and was glad to discover both Schloss Sihlberg and the wine world of Mercure hotels.
