Gelmer Funicular Switzerland (Gelmerbahn)

One of the steepest funiculars in Switzerland, Gelmerbahn (Gelmer Funicular) is located in the canton of Bern and has an incline of up to 106% and is controlled by a winch.

The funicular connects the valley Haslital with the Gelmersee lake, 1,860 meters above sea level.

After an adventurous 10-minute funicular ride that feels more like a slow rollercoaster experience, you can discover the turquoise coloured lake, Gelmer dam and hike in the beautiful rocky Gelmer valley and come back by foot or take the funicular back.

The Gelmer Funicular is open from the 26th of May till the 21st of October.

Swissglam tip: if you need to wait for the funicular ride: take a coffee or tasty tarte flambé in the Hotel Handeck.
