Blickfang is the largest design shopping event in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It has been held annually past 25 years in seven European cities. The shopping platform offers independent designers (newcomers as well as already established labels) space to present themselves to a design oriented audience.
Prior to the design week the Design Night was held for the first time. The international design scene gathered on Friday evening to celebrate the opening and hand out the Blickfang Design Prize and the Interior Design Prize were awarded. The prize in the category “Fashion and Jewellery” went to the Zurich designer Kathrin Eckhardt. Two Lucerne labels NIU and Layer Cake received the award in the category “Furniture & Product”. In addition to the Swiss Argentinian product designerAlfredo Häberli, the exhibition hosts and guests welcomed the Hamburg studio Besau-Marguerre, the founder of the famous Zurich label FREITAG Markus Freitagand the Danish designer Rolf Hay.
This year in Zurich more than 14 000 visitors attended the design exhibition in the StageOne in Zurich-Oerlikon. Around 180 international exhibitors presented their creations to the public and two-thirds of them were designers from Switzerland. Also Swiss fashion designer platform Modesuisse was present at the fait with their concept store featuring the new creations of the local designers.
