Gstaad Palace Hotel: Swiss Winter Elegance

Set high above the village of Gstaad, the Gstaad Palace is far more than a grand hotel — it is a living icon of Swiss hospitality. Since opening in December 1913, this five-star superior property has remained in the hands of the Scherz family for three generations, making it one of the last great family-run luxury hotels in Europe. That continuity is palpable throughout the house, where first-class service is not a concept, but a tradition lived daily.

Alpine Glamour with a View

The seasonal hotel features 90 rooms and suites, all offering sweeping views over the Saanenland mountains. The interiors combine contemporary glamour with Alpine comfort, creating spaces that feel elegant yet welcoming — refined without ever being distant. In winter, the snow-covered panorama becomes part of the experience, visible from morning coffee to candlelit evenings.

A Culinary Destination in Its Own Right

Dining at the Gstaad Palace is an experience shaped by variety, heritage and creativity. Across five restaurants and bars, guests can enjoy everything from classic Swiss comfort food to refined international cuisine, with gourmet dining awarded 16 GaultMillau points.

The culinary lineup includes:

  • Le Grand – the hotel’s newly redesigned flagship restaurant, rooted in tradition since 1913 and celebrated for its classic table service paired with innovative daily menus. Guests can choose from a carefully curated menu of around 75 dishes, complemented by changing daily creations

  • La Fromagerie – an intimate, authentic Swiss experience centred around cheese specialities

  • Gildo’s Ristorante – elegant Italian dining with a warm, lively atmosphere

  • Le Grill – fine dining with timeless appeal and a focus on high-quality ingredients

  • Lobby Bar & Terrace – the social heart of the Palace, ideal for aperitifs, light bites and people-watching

Under the direction of Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh, the Palace continues to evolve its gastronomic identity while staying true to its roots.

Après-Ski, the Palace Way

As the sun sets, the hotel reveals its legendary nightlife. The GreenGo nightclub is one of the most iconic après-ski addresses in the Alps, known for its vibrant atmosphere, long nights and international clientele. It is a place where winter days seamlessly transition into glamorous evenings.

Wellness with a Winter Focus

After a day outdoors, the 1,800-square-metre Palace Spa offers pure relaxation. Guests can unwind in the sauna, enjoy the outdoor whirlpool under a star-filled sky or retreat by the fireplace with a cup of tea.

For a more structured approach to wellbeing, the Gstaad Palace Signature Wellness Activity focuses on longevity and vitality. The programme combines a personal-training session, Himalayan sauna and cold shower, followed by a Cellgym session and a lymphatic massage — a modern wellness ritual designed for balance and regeneration.

Winter Moments, Palace Style

The Gstaad Palace curates a refined selection of winter experiences that go far beyond skiing. Guests are invited to discover the quiet beauty of the Saanenland by moving gently through the snow — either on snowshoes or on traditional sledges, allowing for an unhurried connection with the Alpine landscape.

For a touch of nostalgia and romance, horse-drawn carriage rides glide through snow-covered scenery, offering a timeless way to experience winter in Gstaad. Those in search of exhilaration can take to the skies on helicopter flights over the region’s snow-blanketed peaks — from the Wildhorn to the Videmanette — revealing breathtaking Alpine perspectives.

Seasons at a Glance

The winter season runs from 15 December 2025 to 8 March 2026, followed by the summer season from 19 June to 6 September 2026. While each season brings its own rhythm, the Palace spirit remains constant: discreet luxury, family-led hospitality and a deep respect for tradition.
