High above the Gstaad valley, at 1,920 metres, Wasserngrat Restaurant is one of those places where time naturally slows down. The view is breathtaking, the atmosphere relaxed, and the focus is firmly on enjoying the moment.
In the kitchen, regional, top-quality ingredients are prepared with care and creativity, resulting in comforting Alpine dishes that feel just right at altitude. Think warming mountain soups that change daily, crisp local salads, and classic Swiss favourites such as golden rösti or a perfectly executed fondue moitié-moitié — ideal for long lunches that stretch well into the afternoon. For something heartier, the Simmental beef entrecôte is a firm favourite, while sweet endings range from daily dessert creations to iconic Gruyère meringues generously topped with double cream.
Nik and Simon Buchs and their team create a welcoming, easygoing atmosphere where guests are looked after effortlessly — all you have to do is sit back, enjoy the scenery and say «e Guete».
Inside, the cosy restaurant seats up to 160 guests, while the expansive terrace — with panoramic Alpine views — can host up to 250 more, making Wasserngrat just as appealing for spontaneous lunches as for special moments in the mountains.
SwissGlam tip: Arrive late morning on a sunny day and plan to stay longer than expected — this is Gstaad dining at its most relaxed and authentic.
