Zurich’s restaurant scene welcomes a refined new addition with SEAM, the city’s first Japanese Kappo restaurant. Located near Bahnhofstrasse, the concept introduces a more intimate and craftsmanship-focused approach to Japanese fine dining, centred around the interaction between chef and guest.
The restaurant is led by Osaka-born chef Yusuke Katayama, whose menu combines traditional Japanese techniques with a contemporary presentation style. Guests can expect elegant sashimi and sushi selections alongside signature dishes such as Kagoshima Wagyu Katsu Sando, Oyster Rice prepared in handcrafted copper pots and beautifully plated seasonal creations inspired by Japanese cuisine.
Desserts also add a distinctive touch to the experience, with elegant creations such as Matcha Tiramisu and Japanese-inspired sweets that combine delicate textures with refined flavours and minimalist presentation.
The interiors reflect the same understated elegance as the cuisine itself. Designed by Japanese designer Atsuhiko Sugiyama together with Zurich-based interior designer Iria Degen, the restaurant is visually divided into two areas inspired by the feeling of a house and garden, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere where guests are meant to feel completely at ease.
