Allianz Cinema Zürich 2023

Allianz Openair Cinema successfully closed its 34th season at the Zürichhorn at the end of August 2023, with the sold-out screening of Harrison Ford’s last adventure: Indiana Jones.

In total, 48,400 moviegoers attended the open-air cinema in the (mostly) beautiful summer weather – a relaxed atmosphere with a spectacular backdrop, for sure!

The top film of this year’s program was, not surprisingly, the winner of the cinema year, Barbie, which opened the season. The audience enjoyed the movie and had fun wearing pink outfits and taking photos in the Barbie box at the entrance.

But arthouse films such as the three exclusive German-Swiss previews of Jeanne du Barry, the Aki Kaurismäki-directed Fallen Leaves, and the Palme d’Or winner of the Festival du Film in Cannes, Anatomie d’une Chute, were also able to attract well over 1,000 people to the Zürichhorn – and received a great amount of applause from the audience at the end.

Now, the 350m2 screen will be dismantled, packed into three 40-foot-long overseas containers, and transported by rail to Rotterdam. From there, they will be shipped to Australia, where the pop-up will be set up in Sydney harbor for the 26th OpenAir cinema season, once winter has already set in here in December.
