In August 2021 Zurich is getting a new restaurant with probably the most spectacular terrace in town! The LUX Restaurant & Bar is integrated in the reopened Kongresshaus and Tonhalle, but acts independently and with a two-part concept of a casual fine dining restaurant on the one hand and a cultivated bar culture with lounge on the other. The head chef is Gerhard Rentz, who serves a cosmopolitan cuisine that he complements with Zurich culinary traditions.
Light show in the LUX Restaurant & Bar restaurant
The LUX not only entices with an exciting food concept, but also with a generously seated terrace from which one has a direct view of the lake and the Alps. Inside, the ambience is elegantly harmonious and with an interplay of light and color, which presents itself differently depending on the time of day. The interior design of the restaurant takes up this aspect and implements it in the form of subtle color gradients, shimmering fabrics and different lighting scenarios. Jasmin Grego and Stephanie Kühnle from the GREGO office in Zurich are responsible for this light-inspired interior design. At the same time, the entire atmosphere in the restaurant is deliberately kept relaxed, in keeping with the desired “casual chic”.
Menu as “Homage to Zurich”
Chef Gerhard Rentz’s cuisine is cosmopolitan and modern, but still aware of its Zurich roots. Thus, under the heading “Homage to Zurich” you will find the “Zürichsee-Teller” with fish crispies and saffron mayonnaise as well as the famous Zürcher Geschnetzeltes with Rösti but also a “Wiediker Plättli” with local cheese or for dessert the assortment “Züriberg” with macarons and popcorn ice cream.
The bar focuses on a metropolitan bar culture as well as a broad, purely European wine selection, and on Sundays the restaurant offers an extensive brunch menu.
