Warsaw Weekend Getaway

My first ever visit to Poland took place this fall when I joined a small group of Swiss journalists to explore Warsaw in two days. We walked in the city centre, discovered its residential areas, parks and learnt about the luxury industry and the rapid development of the capital in general. Here is my trip report for you.
Sightseeing and eateries:

  • The Old Town is very colorful, romantic and scenic. It was thoroughly rebuilt after its total destruction during World Wold II.
  • Nowy Świat street: a representative city street with museums, universities, monuments, cafes and restaurants.
  • A great walk along an up and coming leisure site with the newly built boulevards at the Vistula riverbank: city beaches and restaurants, clubs, Copernicus Science Centre, Poniatowski Bridge. It is also possible to take a rental bike. The cycling network in the city is almost 500 km long and is getting increasingly popular each year.
  • Hala Koszyki: The ‘Koszyki’ market hall, Warsaw’s social and culinary center with numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs and market counters with fresh produce.
  • A great restaurant Tamka 43 offers seasonal Polish and European products and perfect wine paring options!

Business and luxury wise it was interesting to learn that Poland is the only state in East-Central Europe to have recorded a sales increase and Warsaw became a new, yet natural direction of expansion for premium brands:

  • No.44 offers 72 luxurious apartments rentals with panoramic views in the iconic skyscraper designed by world famous architect Daniel Libeskind just in the Warsaw’s central business and governmental districts. Rooms have different styles and were designed by Swiss design studio “Upscale Interiors”. Residents of the building can enjoy luxurious living space, unlimited access to a recreation floor with a pool, spa, fully equipped gym, Finnish sauna, steam room and private cinema.
  • Ethos, a newly constructed office and retail complex in Warsaw. Situated on the historic Royal Route at Plac Trzech Krzyży – a High Street Luxury destination, surrounded by high-end brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Rolex, Omega, Montblanc etc. Ethos offers in total 17,000 sq. m of leasable space and has much to offer to investors, stakeholders, artists, brands interested in the Eastern European market, tourists and residents of course. Benefiting from various luxury brands already operating in the area, the Ethos project and future re-developments are yet to come.
  • Enjoyed my stay in the design hotel Indigo at Nowy Swiat: amazing city views, great modern interior, big windows and a very tasty breakfast with lots of healthy options!
