White Turf St. Moritz celebrated 117 years of international horse racing on the snow this year, as is tradition, spread out over three race Sundays. Over 45 horses from four countries competed in the three disciplines of galloping, trotting, and skikjöring on the frozen Lake St. Moritz on the first Sunday. Six official horse races were on the programme, one each thanks to the main sponsors: UBS, Genesis, and the new main sponsor, DC Aviation Group.

All races are endowed with at least 10,000 Swiss francs in prize money. The main events – the GP Casino St. Moritz and Friends of the Racing Club – are even endowed with 20,000 Swiss francs.

For the first year, the skikjöring discipline is under the patronage of UBS. Some top-class horses also competed in the exclusive St. Moritz sporting event. First and foremost Ulster, who won three of the biggest flat races in Switzerland in 2021. He had to miss almost all of the 2023 season and is now being looked after by champion trainer Claudia Erni in Avenches.

In addition to exciting races, visitors could enjoy numerous activities, food, and champagne stands, as well as an extended Saturday Family Days program. A total of 36,000 visitors flocked to the tent city for this season’s Family and Racing Days –- a resounding success for the St. Moritz Racing Club and its sponsors and partners.

The final Sunday of the 117th edition of the International Horse Races on Snow marks the end of three weekends of thrilling horse racing, sunshine, and a relaxed atmosphere on the frozen lake of St. Moritz. The highlight of the day was the crowning of Valeria Schiergen as the new Queen of the Engadine after she won the skikjöring races on the first two race Sundays.
