Widder Wonder Garden

A must for all cheese lovers: the garden of the Widder Hotel in Zurich is transformed into a winter wonderland from the end of November 2023 to February 2024. In the pop-up “Widder Wonder Garden”, internal and external guests can enjoy a choice of fondue or raclette from the Jumi cheese dairy. This is accompanied by champagne from partner Perrier-Jouët – and the most beautiful winter atmosphere in the city center.

Guests are served a 4-course menu with raclette or fondue as the main course. “The Widder Garden is such a magical place. It’s somewhat hidden, yet right in the middle of it all. We really wanted to make it accessible to our guests in winter too,” says Daniel Weist, Managing Director Operations at the Widder Hotel.

The evening starts with an aperitif platter. The produce comes from the hotel’s own farms: Terreni alla Maggia in Ascona and Château de Raymontpierre in the Jura. The second course is served with a large salad bowl to share. For the main course, guests can choose between fondue and raclette.  As for the fondue, it can be with white wine, champagne or truffle. Raclette lovers have a choice of five varieties: Nature, smoke, port wine-pepper, truffle and bacon-smoke. The finale is a mandarin sorbet with Perrier-Jouët champagne. The evening in the “Widder Wonder Garden” costs 95 CHF per person. The price includes a glass of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut.

The gondolas offer space for two to four people. Those who reserve a gondola always have it exclusively for themselves – even if they only want to enjoy an evening for two. The “Widder Wonder Garden” is open from Tuesday to Saturday and on Sundays when the shops are open (26.11./03.12./17.12./24.12.2023). There are two seatings per evening. The first is from 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the second from 8.30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

If you would like to enjoy the winter atmosphere in the gondolas without raclette and fondue, you are also welcome to join for an aperitif. During the week from 4.00 pm, at weekends from 1.00 pm. Guests can enjoy Gillardeau oysters or snacks from the Widder kitchen with Perrier-Jouët champagne.
